DECHEMA, the Society
for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, is a non-profit making scientific
and technical society based in Frankfurt am Main. It was founded in 1926. Nowadays
it has over 5,000 private and institutional members. DECHEMA's aim is to promote
research and technical advances in the areas of chemical engineering, biotechnology
and environmental protection.
IMPULSE (Integrated Multiscale Process Units with Locally Structured Elements)
IMPULSE is an integrated research project within the 6th Framework Programme of the EU. It aims to establish the multi-scale design approach in chemical engineering and process development. TOPCOMBI is an integrated project within the 6th Framework Programme of the EU. TOPCOMBI aims to develop new catalytic processes by using High-Throughput Technology. Verband kunstofferzeugende Industrie - PlasticsEurope
PlasticsEurope in Brussels is the new pan-European association of plastics manufacturers. Frankfurt on Main is the seat of PlasticsEuropes Region Central Europe which comprises Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the new EU member states in Central Europe.
Verband der chemischen Industrie e.V. - VCI
VCI (Verband der Chemischen Industrie e. V.), the German chemical industry association, represents the political interests of 1,600 German chemical companies and German subsidiaries of foreign groups in contacts with politicians, public authorities, other industries, scientists and the media. VCI speaks for over 90% of the German chemical industry. The association is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, with an office for liaison with the German parliament and the federal government in Berlin and a liaison office in Brussels.
German Catalysis Society - GeCats
The German Catalysis
Society (GeCatS) is the platform for the entire German catalysis com-munity
in the area of research and application. The society is supported by DECHEMA,
VDI-GVC, GDCh, DGMK and DBG and has currently more than 1000 members from industry
and academia.
Industrial Investment Council - IIC
The IIC, a consulting firm focusing on eastern Germany, offers free-of-charge investment advice and project management services for all industry sectors including chemistry and life sciences. The mission is to actively and con-tinuously identify business opportunities in eastern Germany for international investors, for whom the region's unique advantages offer potential for global success, and to develop project ideas that ultimately lead to an in-vestment in eastern Germany and create jobs. IIC is providing assistance in areas such as strategy planning, market research, competitive data compiling, location assessments, site visits and selection, partner identification, financial incentives advising, resourcing human capital, general negotia-tions, permit applications and overall project management.

Rund 1.000 Unternehmen mit etwa 85.000 Beschäftigten bilden derzeit die Kunststoffindustrie in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
